HOW WE WORK

A better way to see. A better way to build.

Human Systems Architecture and the Lived System Method™ reveal what others miss so organizations and individuals can make better decisions, reduce unintended consequences, and create sustainable performance.

Human Systems Architecture

We look at the whole system: people, decisions, structures, environments, technology, data, governance, and how they interact over time.

People first

Human behavior, experience, and relationships shape every outcome.

Systems thinking

See patterns, connections, dependencies, and feedback loops.

Consequence driven

Surface intended and unintended consequences before they become costly.

Evidence based

Combine data, observation, system evidence, and lived evidence.

Humanity centered

Design with dignity, agency, clarity, fairness, and trust in mind.

THE JDQPS MODEL

Evidence becomes a decision. The decision becomes change that holds.

Human Systems Architecture is the shared operating model. Organizations use Human Systems Design™. Individuals use Human Systems Navigation™. Both move through the same decision discipline.

HUMAN SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE
01DIAGNOSE

See reality. Establish the evidence. Define the real problem.

02TRANSFORM

Make the decision. Build only what the evidence supports.

03SUSTAIN

Make it hold through adoption, accountability, measurement, and refinement.

BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE AT JDQPS

Human systems are shaped by behavior, emotion, motivation, context, and change.

Behavioral science helps JDQPS understand the human conditions beneath what people and organizations are experiencing. It strengthens how we interpret lived experience, resistance, stress, motivation, communication, trust, decision-making, and behavior in context.

That perspective supports clearer operating diagnosis, more responsible recommendations, stronger leadership insight, and solutions designed to work under real human conditions.

How we read behavioral evidence.

  1. Observed behavior

What happened, when it happened, and what the available record shows.

  2. Context

The roles, expectations, constraints, relationships, and conditions around it.

  3. Possible explanations

Hypotheses to examine against the record and alternative explanations.

  4. Supported conclusions

What the evidence supports, what remains uncertain, and what to examine next.

Behavior alone does not establish someone’s motivation, intent, mental state, or personality. Where the record is incomplete, the explanation remains a hypothesis.

PEOPLE MANAGER
Communicate effectively.Lead consistently.Support in practice.
Behavior in contextUnderstand what behavior may be signaling before treating it as an isolated performance or personality issue.
Motivation & changeRead readiness, resistance, reinforcement, and the conditions that make sustained behavior change more or less likely.
Human consequenceStrengthen Human Consequence Review™ by examining how decisions may affect trust, stress, agency, relationships, and response.
Lived experienceBring human reality into Understory™, employee experience, leadership systems, and individual Human Systems Navigation™.

THE LIVED SYSTEM METHOD™

Every workplace has an intended system and a lived system.

The gap is where performance, risk, trust, and reality diverge.

Look beneath the plan

Workarounds, hidden labor and informal authority can hold together what a formal plan leaves unresolved.

Hidden work belongs in the design.

UNDERSTORY™

The hidden conditions diagnostic.

Understory™ turns human experience, system behavior, governance evidence, and operating data into a usable executive view.

Human ConditionsTrust, motivation, agency, psychological safety, fatigue, belonging.
Leadership & DecisionsAuthority, accountability, incentives, escalation, judgment, power.
Work & GovernanceIntake, prioritization, capacity, workflow, dependencies, handoffs.
Technology & DataSystems, access, integrations, automation, AI, analytics, security.
Experience & CommunicationJourneys, knowledge, messaging, adoption, moments that matter.
Capability & PerformanceSkills, development, resilience, workforce planning, measurement.

Cross-system controls: legal, ethics, risk, privacy, and humanity are applied across every dimension.

THE HUMANITY STANDARD™

Ten tests for whether a design is truly human-ready.

Dignity Does the design respect the people living inside it? Agency Do people understand what they can control and influence? Clarity Are expectations, decisions, and consequences understandable? Fairness Are accountability and burdens distributed responsibly? Trust Does the system increase or erode confidence? Accessibility Can affected people realistically use the system? Privacy Are data, access, and visibility responsibly governed? Human judgment Is responsible judgment preserved where consequences require it? Capability Does the design build or drain human capacity? Defensibility Could leaders openly defend the design to the people affected?
HUMAN CONSEQUENCE REVIEW™

Every decision creates consequences. See the full picture before you choose.

Surface intentionsClarify what the decision is meant to achieve.
See the systemMap who is affected, how the system responds, and where friction lives.
Identify consequencesReveal intended and unintended consequences.
Understand human impactAssess impact on people, performance, trust, risk, and morale.
Evaluate & prioritizeWeigh trade-offs and prioritize what matters most.
Decide & designMake informed decisions and design solutions that endure.
IMPLEMENTATION DOCTRINE

Insight must survive implementation.

The 12 steps carry work from problem definition through ownership, requirements, risk, build, testing, adoption, stabilization, and operational handoff.

DIAGNOSE → TRANSFORM → SUSTAIN

A clear path from ambiguity to lasting change.

Diagnosis defines the real problem and evidence base. Transformation builds the required operating architecture or individual response. Sustain protects the value through adoption, accountability, measurement, and refinement.
